For a better experience, please enable JavaScript in your browser before proceeding. I know I can play it over bluetooth (as I assume USB though I didnt try) but what is the story with the app I try to use it and it says I need an active subscription I thought the app was just a mirror of the phone and it used that data. I had an issue before with the UConnect unit claiming a subscription was needed to use Off Road Pages and a reboot fixed that but now I see this again. Can anyone else without a subscription use the Pandora app Does it use phone data or the built in cellular connection I ask because if it is the in-vehicle unit then this will be hopeless since Sprint has horrible data coverage around here. Ive had the Jeep for a year now but only yesterday decided to try and play Pandora through it. You do have to have the Uconnect app installed in your phone and connected to the radio in the car for it to work. I have found completing that connection can be tricky at times. If you can use it with just the UConnect app that would be something. Turned out I somehow had two accounts and was trying to use the one that was buggy. Within the site, you enter your Pandora credentials. Download the UConnect app. The app has to be open to start Pandora and then it will work. But I discovered that it wont allow the prompts and alerts from Waze to pass through. So Ive gone back to either using Bluetooth or the USB to play Pandora through the system as this lets Waze work. You can still skip tracks but you have no access to the channel list and the thumb updown. I havent yet had the Jeep for a year so I dont know how itll work after a year but the rep on the phone who I had to call for help on this seemed to indicate it would. If you want to take advantage of the full Android Auto (or Apple CarPlay) on the 2018 models you probably need to activate your uconnect trial subscription first (Im not sure of this part because I activated my uconnect Sirius subscription on day two of owning my 2018 Jeep) then you need to hook your phone up over USB connection to run the Android Auto or Apple CarPlay apps between your phone and uconnect - at which time you can have a richer Pandora or Spotify experience through the uconnect interface (along with Waze, Google Maps, etc). I have found the Android Auto experience to be a bit clunky and buggy so far, so mostly I stick to Bluetooth streaming. Niether one of the above methods require the uconnect app to be installed or running to stream Pandora or other audio streaming apps however. Uconnect app (on phone) really has nothing to do with streaming audio from phone to uconnect car headunit. Perhaps the 2017 have a different mechanism to interface Pandora through the uconnect (outside of plain old Bluetooth streaming) that does require the uconnect app to be running - my uconnect app only is for car diagnostics and remote unlock, start, horns, etc. Activate U Connect Jeep Wrangler For Free For YourYou get it for free for your first year, then you must pay for it.
